PREVIEW OLIVITALYMED

OlivitalyMed è la International Exhibition of the Excellence of Mediterranean Oil and Flavors, whose first edition is scheduled from 6 all’8 aprile 2024.

Sabato 14 ottobre 2023 presso il Rocca Cilento Castle the event took place in LustraPreview of OlivitalyMed, a day of presentation of the event.

 
To tell the story of the project and to reiterate the importance of extra virgin olive oil, a parterre composed by Stefano Sgueglia, owner of OlivitalyMed; Antonio Casazza, Vice President of the Campania PGI Consortium; Teresa Del Giudice, Agricultural Department Federico II University of Naples; Michele Sonnessa, President of the National Association of Oil Cities; Valerio Calabrese, President of the Mediterranean Diet Museum; Claudio Di Vaio, Agricultural Department Federico II University of Naples; Nicola Caputo, Agriculture Councilor of the Campania Region. Moderator Marianna Ferri, Journalist of the Campania Region Press Office.

 
After the opening with greetings from the Mayor of Lustra Luigi Guerra, the speakers took turns illustrating the event.

The entrepreneur Stefano Sgueglia, owner of the castles of Rocca Cilento and Limatola, aims to make OlivitalyMed the most important fair in central-southern Italy dedicated to quality extra virgin olive oil and a valid attractor for sector operators and large flows of food and wine tourism. The choice of Cilento as a location is not random: it is in fact the cradle of the Mediterranean Diet, and oil is one of the main foods, just as the olive tree is the symbolic plant of the Mediterranean basin.

The opportunities offered by Campania PGI oil were illustrated by the professor Claudio Di Vaio.

This brand provides an opportunity for positioning on the market, as the name Campania is immediately recognisable, therefore it favors the promotion and marketing of the oil.

The councillor Nicola Caputo finally highlighted a great contradiction: Campania is among the most productive regions from a potential point of view, but also among those less recognized on the markets. This is demonstrated by the limited presence of Campania oils in restaurant menus around the world. OlivitalyMed aims to adequately position Campania productions on the markets.

OlivitalyMed's institutional partner is the Agriculture Department of the Campania Region, who included this initiative in the program 2023/24 of valorisation of regional agricultural excellence.
