CHEESES & SMILE 2024
It took place from 12 al 14 April in the historic center of Cremona Cheeses & Smiles, the festival dedicated to Cheese & Friends, that is, Italian dairy products and matching products.
Three days marked by a packed program: permanent exhibition spaces of cheese producers and refiners from all over Italy, together with stands of typical Cremonese specialities, the mustard; convegni, workshops and cooking shows at the PalaCheese set up in the public gardens of Piazza Roma; activities for the little ones and traveling music through the streets of the city centre.
Promoters of the event, now in its fourth edition, the Grana Padano Protection Consortium and the Provolone Valpadana Protection Consortium; technical partner ON OFF – National Organization of Cheese Tasters, delegation from Cremona.
We were in Cremona on Friday 12 aprile. As well as looting the display area of cheeses and mustards, we attended the competition dedicated to traditional rural cheeses from Lombardy, won byBianchessi Agricultural Company of Quintano (Cremona) with its “Pepita” sheep robiola.
Cheeses & Sorrisi is not just an event to enrich one's knowledge in the dairy sector, but it is also an opportunity to discover the city of Cremona, with its historic premises, the violin making shops, the monumental complex of Piazza del Comune composed of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, from the Baptistery of San Giovanni Battista and from Torrazzo, the tallest medieval bell tower in Europe.
The central nave of the Cathedral is adorned with a cycle of sixteenth-century frescoes.

Among the historic shops of Cremona, Speers, nineteenth-century exercise (the beginning of the activity dates back to 1811) which still offers desserts today, nougat and mustard, along with wines and spirits. It is the oldest shop in the city of Cremona and is counted among the historic places in Italy;
Lanfranchi by the 1890, pastry shop and tea room with original Art Nouveau furnishings, also a member of the Locali Storici d'Italia association;
Bottega Cremonese – Italian cheeses and cured meats, cheese and cured meat shop housed in the premises of a former jewelery shop, of which it preserves the period furniture (including a safe); it is a relatively younger business, with his beyond 60 anni di storia.
