The family business Provenza it is a truly virtuous example, a model company for cutting-edge production techniques and technologies, but also for the passion he pours into his work and the propensity to always look ahead.
Per Maria Provenza, head of the company, extra virgin olive oil is far from being a mere commercial product: it is the way to best preserve what nature has given us.
It is a food that needs to be told, valued and promoted as much as possible, to educate consumers and guide them towards an increasingly informed purchase.
There are many initiatives implemented by the Provenza family over the years: tasting meetings, educational workshops for schools, the Oil Bar (di cui abbiamo parlato qui), the Oil Charter and the artisanal cruet for restaurants (here is the report).
Alongside the dissemination activities, there is now also an oil tourism project: Tenuta degli Ulivi – Farmhouse.
It is a creature born from the acquisition of the San Luca village, a short distance from the oil mill, in the municipality of Montecorvino Rovella. A multifunctional structure that presents itself as a sort of cultural and tourist hub built around the world of extra virgin olive oil.
Tenuta degli olivei, THE HOME
The central element, the Home, con i suoi 16 beds, it is perfect for hosting nature and tranquility lovers. The rooms, rustic but absolutely comfortable, they evoke past eras and peasant traditions (the farmhouse dates back to 1216).
Even the courtesy kit in the bathrooms is linked to the world of oil: it is made by the brand Parentesi Bio, created by the younger branch of the Provenza family, that is, Maria's nieces. All the cosmetic products in this line are created from natural raw materials and include extra virgin olive oil among the ingredients..
The property also includes a private chapel consecrated to Saint Luke, a place of meditation and spirituality. In this ancient chapel the farmers used to stop to give thanks for the fruits of their labor.
THE OIL BAR
Tenuta degli Ulivi is also the new headquarters of Bar dell’Olio, looked after as always by the Bar Chef Jan Bruno Di Giacomo, mixologist who uses cooking techniques in his work and who offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails with extra virgin olive oil (a point on which he is categorical: Woe betide anyone talking about generic “oil”.).
Open on weekends, the Bar dell'Olio is a means to introduce even the youngest to the culture of quality extra virgin olive oil.
Tenuta degli olivei, THE PICNIC
The farm is surrounded by 37 hectares of centuries-old olive groves. During the weekend it is possible to use the service picnic among the olive trees, picking up a basket full of peasant dishes where extra virgin olive oil is the common thread. The gastronomic offer is based on collaboration with local artisans of taste such as Helga Liberto ed Emilio Soldivieri, as well as with excellent companies such as Jemma Dairy of Battipaglia and the winery Casa di Baal of Montecorvino Rovella.
The picnic can be enjoyed at sunset, as an aperitif, but also for lunch, su richiesta, in a much more than suggestive atmosphere, between hay bales, aromas of aromatic herbs, checked tablecloths and exclusively local products.
PRESENTATION TO THE PRESS
The project which involves the entire Provenza family was presented to the press with a tasting session based on Torretta extra virgin olive oil during an evening organized by journalists Laura Gambacorta and Antonella Petitti.
The tasting menu: Frying of battered vegetables and mixed fries (strictly with Torretta extra virgin olive oil), Omelette with wild herbs, Savory leavened products filled with local products, Spontaneous herb soup with potatoes, Ciambotta, Pasta e fagioli, Buffalo mozzarella from Campania Dairy Jemma, Cilento cured meats (buffalo from Jemma and soppressata from Piccolo artisanal salami factory from Gioi), Biscuits with extra virgin olive oil, Peasant cake with nasper, Baal House Wines, Cocktail with extra virgin olive oil and to conclude Fernando, Torretta olive leaf bitters.
Tenuta degli Ulivi also lends itself as a location in which to organize events and ceremonies.
