THE BRITISH CORNER
A fantastic Roman tea room that I discovered during a group gathering: The British Corner.
Tea room e vintage shop, The British Corner is located in the neighborhood Pigneto di Roma, reachable from Termini station in about twenty minutes with the metro A combination + C.
But don't be surprised if it feels like you took the Hogwarts Express instead of the Atac subway!
THE LOCAL
The place is a real corner of England in Roman land.
From the moment you enter, you are pervaded by an almost familiar sense of intimacy.
Antique wooden furniture in warm colors hosts fine porcelain with a golden edge. Cups peek out from every corner of the room, teiere, saucers, figurines. A large sideboard houses cutlery and bright Sheffield objects, all strictly coming from the United Kingdom.

In a corner, to supervise and do the honors of the house, Queen Elizabeth dressed in white.
The only slightly more contemporary concession, the wall with black and white decorations, which also houses a porthole mirror with a golden frame and the club's logo.
Nestled in a chair, the beautiful cat Smeraldina, which – needless to say – has a magnificent vintage saucer as a bowl for its crunchies.
The soul of this corner of the English capital is Michele and Savior; not simply the owners, but the real added value of the place. Their welcome made of friendliness and kindness puts anyone at ease. And in fact the clientele is absolutely transversal, with an audience that goes on 16 ai 90 anni!
Every object on display is for sale.
A large staircase leads to the upper floor, a retro lounge embellished with a blue wall.
L’AFTERNOON TEA
The classic elements of the English tradition find their place on the porcelain splashbacks: finger sandwich with various fillings (tonno; cetriolo; uova) and biscuits.

Apart, Homemade scones arrive, very large and served hot from the oven, already filled with jam of your choice and a cream very similar to the original British clotted cream.
And, ovviamente, various types of teas and infusions to choose from.
Of course the mise en place is delicious, with rigid placemats (just like they do in the UK, without fabric tablecloth), posatine in Sheffield, cups and teapots mix and match.

All you have to do is reach The British Corner: it takes less than a trip to London, and you find a lovely English atmosphere.
