CAV. INNOCENT Borrillo, FROM TORRONI 1891
For the series "Shops beautiful and ancient", we show a real treat: Premiata Fabbrica di Torroni Cav. Innocent Borrillo of San Marco Dei Cavoti.
The workshop of the Cavalier from Innocent Borrillo 1891 It produces classic nougat and the house specialty, creation of the founder: i Torroni Baci, crunchy almonds and hazelnuts covered in chocolate.
It is thanks to the opening of the company Knight - followed by those of other confectionery companies – that San Lorenzello became the Country of nougat.
The historic shop – which it is located in the same place where over a hundred years ago were planted ovens – proudly retains traces of its past: the ancient wooden scales and two marble plates with brass weights, old signs from the characters belonging to ancient times, packs vintage framed.
But if it is true that traditional products are a must, absolutely you must also sample the delights of fresh pastries, as cassatine, sighs and cannoli.
We have to thank a dear friend a food enthusiast for letting us discover cassatine. Extremely light, no icing or naspro, exquisite in their simplicity.
At the workshop Cav. Innocent Borrillo it is very good things to buy, and it comes with loads of wonder eyes.
Recall that every year in December in San Lorenzello is held the Feast of Nougat and Crunchy: an excellent opportunity to come to know this goodness in fingers.
