ARMONÌ TRATTORIA GOURMET
It opened in February Armonì Trattoria Gourmet sul lungomare di Pozzuoli.
HISTORY
Armonì Trattoria Gourmet was born at the behest of the chef Mariano Armonia and the entrepreneur John Russo, childhood friends even born on the same day (annata 1988).
After having obtained very important work experiences on the island of Capri (including L'Olivo del Capri Palace, The Hedgehog, Grand Hotel Quisisana) and subsequently opened his own seafood restaurant, Mariano Armonia has decided to set aside fish dishes and focus on traditional Neapolitan dishes. Hence the opening of Armonì, name derived from his surname. A further curiosity: The chef's name and surname are an anagram of each other.
THE LOCAL
Two rooms, 45 covered (and the intention to enlarge the outdoor area in the short term) and a lot of Neapolitan style on the tables expressed in small handcrafted accessories such as lucky horns, Pulcinella masks and sacred hearts act as placeholders and cutlery rests.
La cucina è a vista.
In menu, family dishes, like the "Egg in Purgatory... dedicated to dad" and the "mom's ragù", or the homage to great Neapolitans such as Eduardo De Filippo, with the “vermicello 'a puveriello”, prepared with fried eggs, sugna, pepper and egg yolk bottarga.
The wine list includes more 50 etichette.
THE TASTING
On the occasion of the presentation of the venue to the press organized by journalists Federica Riccio and Alessandro Savoia, we were able to taste some Armonì dishes.
Pane, breadsticks and rice wafers are strictly homemade.
Tra gli antipasti, classics like aubergine parmigiana, Potato cake, Bean and escarole soup.
Among the first, the inevitable Genoese, in a slightly revised version (short candles with Montoro onion and onion chips).
Our favorite dish of the entire tasting, Vermicelli alla Puveriello, which is a poor dish (just egg and grated cheese) takes on a "gourmet" appearance here thanks to the roe of egg yolk marinated in salt for 24 ore.
Equally essential in a Neapolitan menu, meatballs with meat sauce.
Per finire, Neapolitan pastiera and Steccarmonì, salted caramel ice cream covered in white chocolate.
Eating at Armonì is almost like going to Sunday lunch at your grandmother's house.
But don't forget to book, especially on weekends, because it's always full.
