DONNA MARIA INN TOWER OF GREEK
Traditional recipes and reworked territory within a Vesuvian home of the Golden Mile: a nice combination for 'Osteria Donna Maria a Torre del Greco.
It is indeed the eighteenth century Villa Faraone Mennella to serve as headquarters for the restaurant chef patron Vittorio Carotenuto, inaugurated in July 2017.
Forty covered, kept between the high vaulted ceiling and decor that blends gracefully with antique cabinets and contemporary pieces; as many seats outside, in the pleasant courtyard building.
To drown out the kitchen entrance, an inscription that is almost a statement of intent: "Tradition and modernity: with the baggage of the past and look towards the future ".
Memory is important for Vittorio: the name is a tribute to father's mother, Maria, his first teacher in terms of gastronomy.
The actuality is given instead by the inevitable creative touch that goes to customize the classic dishes handed down from generations.
A kitchen, therefore,, that of Vittorio Carotenuto, made many suggestions: those family members and those better techniques, thanks to the degree awarded by the hotel management school of Vico Equense and professional experience alongside great chefs, tra i quali Antonino Cannavacciuolo, Cristoforo Trapani and Scotti Crescenzo.
The reception is entrusted to the Osteria Ilaria Sica, girlfriend Vittorio.
Land and sea in the menu, two tasting courses dedicated, as an alternative to the free choice of the host.
For the summer season, some attractive proposals.
The brilliant chef's hand can be seen since the finger appetizer: textbook the omelette bucatini, luscious Mini bun with sesame rosé calf cooked at low temperature and river chilies.
The appetizer of the house "Donna Maria" consists of a fried squash blossom, aperto, stuffed with ricotta cheese, tomato confit and basil, combined with an eggplant Parmigiana with San Marzano tomato sauce stew.
The seafood appetizer Sepia scalded, crema di piselli, scagliozzo chickpea and passion fruit resumes the traditional "Sepia and peas" combining legumes to mollusc and replacing the passion fruit lemon for the sour note.
Still remodeling for the first.
The "Pasta and potatoes" become Pasta mixed, potatoes and shrimp with creamy smoked cheese. A variant sea & monti, with powdered sea lettuce.
The "Genovese" famous tuna Amalfi Coast here becomes Linguine selection Vicidomini with Genovese bluefin tuna, yogurt, lemon and onion ashes: an intriguing dish, the lively citrus scent.
The dairy slow cooking suckling pig is accompanied by a bundle of stuffed escarole ripassata ("Escarole mbuttunata") and rennet apples with cinnamon.
Chocolate mousse dessert all over the field three chocolate: cioccolato al latte, creamy white and dark chocolate cube, with crunchy cocoa fleur de sel and raspberry.
Of note is the bread basket: homemade scones and bread sticks with squid ink are a delicious complement to the meal.
The wine list features key regional labels, including House Setaro.
The cost of the tasting menu ranges from 30 e i 40 Euro.
An investment that will sincerely recommend, to appreciate a cuisine that goes beyond the planned schedules, but without force, in a pleasant environment.
Also suitable for a younger audience who likes to experiment at the table, without fear of svenarsi.
