MILLEUNACINA
Stavolta la mia passione per la cucina internazionale mi ha portata in Cina! O quasi…
Last year I got to visit the exhibition milleunaCina, organized by the University of Naples studies L'Orientale, and so I also wanted to attend the second edition.
It is a festival of contemporary China with a full calendar of events, taking place within a week at the Palace of Arts in Naples (otherwise known as PAN).
The numerous meetings and performances have touched the most varied themes: calligraphy, literature, musica, fotografia, culture and of course food!
Nello specifico, sabato 11 February I attended the presentation of Chinese tea ceremony.
It is the traditional Chinese method of making tea, which it requires the observance of certain precise rules and the use of special tools.
The cups used for the ceremony should never be touched with hands, but should be handled with the pliers wood; these are arranged on a wooden tray with the double bottom in which the water can flow, since they are thoroughly rinsed with boiling water before use.
The event rapporteur explained that Chinese cups of regular use shall be accompanied by as well as the cover plate, since the 3 saucer pieces, cup and cover symbolize the 3 elements Earth, Man and Heaven.
Domenica 12 the program has included a traditional and modern Chinese music concert (with a nice interpretation of the Neapolitan song Santa Lucia sung in Italian and Chinese), followed by a pleasant conversation on the Chinese food called The long street Spaghetto, edited by Professor Maria Laura Cigliano.
If in the previous edition it had focused on the characteristics of Chinese cuisine, based on contrasts, This time the emphasis was placed on the age invention of the dough question. Although it is obvious that in the gastronomic field can not speak or inventions or individual inventors.
It is now clear that it was not Marco Polo to bring the spaghetti in the West, since his return there was already trade of dry pasta. Infatti, according to a discovery made by Chinese archaeologists 2005, in a prehistoric site on the Yellow River it was found the oldest plate of spaghetti in history. Therefore paternity Spaghetti (only in the sense of the format) It would seem to be Chinese.
A closure entire exhibition, “A table with Confucius”, Chinese buffet of typical dishes prepared by the restaurant The Wall.
Yet another proof that food is culture, and the culture passes through the food 😉
