THE GREAT FEAST 2014
After 'Apericozza al Roof & Sky (which), let's talk about another initiative included as part of the festival Malaz in progress, La Grande Bouffe, short film contest themed food and wine whose title is inspired by the eponymous film by Marco Ferreri.
The final of the competition, now in its second edition, took place Wednesday 10 September at Cantine Astroni, winery flegrea guided by the pair formed by Emanuela Russo and Gerardo Vernazzaro.
The wild cinephile and gastrofila, and author of a column called Taste of Cinema, I could never miss such an opportunity!
The host company takes its name from the place where it is located, or on the outer slopes of the Crater of Astroni, Today State Nature Reserve and WWF. Recall that Campi Flegrei, territory in which it takes place Malazè which falls Cantine Astroni, means "burning fields", or a wide area volcanic. And it is the volcanic soil to confer its particular characteristics to the vines of Piedirosso and Falanghina part of the company and – as a result – wines. Da which, la tagline aziendale “Il territorio in un bicchiere”.
Seven short films competition finalists, who has used the artistic direction of the film historian Giuseppe Borrone and directing technique Maria Breed; seven different ways to investigate the relationship between the film industry and the world food and wine: from comedy-noir genre grotesque, from experimental to documentary.
The food was declined between dreamlike visions, representations of eating disorders, works in black and white without words, comedies black humor, provincial dramas and documentaries.
Unanimous judgment popular and one of the jury, chaired by the director Antonietta De Lillo, and composed of: Antonio Fiore, maccheronico critic of the "Corriere del Mezzogiorno"; Laura Gambacorta, food journalist; Marco Lombard, professor of film, food and wine at the University "Suor Orsola Benincasa" and "La Sapienza"; Nunzia Schiano, attrice teatrale e cinematografica.
Both the popular award that went to the official short film Uncle Ninuccio, the Japanese director Noriko Sugiura.
A documentary that shows the work of the nonagenarian farmer vesuviano Carmine Ametrano, la cui vittoria è stata decretata per la seguente motivazione: "A work of reality cinema from writing simple and direct, that turns a fresh eye and external to a daily familiar to us. The story of a life dedicated to an authentic life, out of time, that nevertheless manages to bring to the attention of the viewer extremely topical social issues: the precariousness of life in our country that covers all, young, grown ups, senior citizens, in front of a State often absent. And a possible escape route – or return – to a great wealth of Italy, the earth, abandoned and today rediscovery, especially by young people, as a resource for our future and for the return to a healthy economy and concrete ".
In the audience the old protagonist, awarded by the inventor of Malazè Rosario Mattera with a plaque depicting the logo of the event containing yellow tuff flegreo.
Special Jury Mention for short Hey Muzzle Yellow, Pierluca Di Pasquale and America, Alexander Stevanon.
Runner "Audience Award": The Near, Andrea Canova.
Third prize "Audience Award": The Month of June, Valerio Vestoso.
As pointed out by the director De Lillo (which, among other things, coordinated the documentary film participated in "Christmas lunch" of 2011), food and cinema are two Italian excellence, important vehicle for the promotion of our country abroad.
A medley of film sequences themed food and wine by Maria Breed (by The Gold Rush Charlie Chaplin's 1925 up to the great beauty of Paolo Sorrentino's 2013) and subsequent wine tasting and finger food DOC concluded an evening gastro-cinematic sauce flegrea.
